Watching a stand up comedian is like going to the dentist – you want them to be confident and look like they know what they are doing, otherwise they have the potential to put you in a world of pain. Luckily, with Raybon Kan you know you’re in a safe pair of hands the moment he strolls on stage. Playing skilfully off his mixed New Zealand and Chinese heritage and covering everything from knife crime to the Olympics, divorce, religion and the finer points of anal sex, he performs a great set with natural flair and confidence. It isn’t exceptional comedy, but it is solid material performed very well. Shockingly, this show is free – go take advantage while you still can.
