Edinburgh Review: Art House

Ever wanted to disappear completely? By faking her suicide, struggling artist Charlie hopes to find the fame in death that’s been denied to her in life; all it depends on is her accomplice, her sister, keeping quiet… It’s a rather flimsy plot that doesn’t stand up to close scrutiny, but this play is about the sisters’ relationship rather than the twists of the story. The two actresses capture the vicious affection and loving jealousy that form the basis of many sister-relationships in this well acted, claustrophobic little play, but the story doesn’t quite satisfy in the end. Worth watching to see the sibling rivalry turn poisonous in this flawed but still compelling piece of theatre.
